Over 35.6 billion VND from Ho Chi Minh City to support people affected by storms and floods

HCMC - On the afternoon of October 6, organizations, agencies, businesses and people of HCMC registered to contribute and support people affected by storms and floods with more than 35.6 billion VND.

On the afternoon of October 6, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) - Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee launched a campaign to support people affected by storms and floods.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City believes that with the special affection of the city's cadres, party members, civil servants, workers and people of all walks of life, this timely support will not only be a material and spiritual sharing at the present time but also create positive impacts on the lives and future of each family.

"Storms and floods are the harshness of nature. Through that, we see solidarity, national love, and compatriotism more than ever. This is reminded as a precious tradition of our nation. In difficult times, Ho Chi Minh City has shown that special affection in the clearest and most beautiful way" - Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc emphasized.

In today's launching ceremony, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City called on people, agencies, organizations, businesses, religious organizations, ethnic minority communities and people from all walks of life to share, help, and contribute to supporting people in areas affected by storms and floods.

At the same time, encourage cadres, civil servants, public employees, officers, soldiers of the armed forces, and those receiving salaries from the state budget working at the city level to contribute at least one day's salary.

From now until November 30, the Vietnam Fatherland Front - Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee will organize the reception, management and distribution of voluntary contributions from people to support people affected by natural disasters caused by storms and floods.

At the same time, reception points will be established in 168 communes, wards and special zones. This helps people, agencies, organizations, individuals and the business community to be more convenient in transacting and participating in contributions.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City will immediately transfer these contributions to the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the Northern and North Central provinces and cities.

At the launching ceremony, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee - Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee received contributions and support from 181 organizations, agencies, businesses and people in the city with a total amount of VND 35,609,398.

Previously, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee - Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee had made a support payment of VND 47.28 billion.

Of which, supporting 56 households affected by thunderstorms in the city, worth 280 million VND; transferring 47 billion VND in support funds to people affected by floods in the provinces of Dong Thap, Dien Bien, Son La, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Hung Yen.

The relief mobilization committee organized visits, encouragement and support for people affected by storms in the Northern and North Central provinces on September 19 - 20 and October 6.

Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods

Consecutive storms No. 8, 9, 10 (Bualoi) and floods caused by the storm have killed, left missing, and injured 165 people; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern mountainous provinces and the central provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
