On September 22, at the Dong Thap Provincial Convention Center, the "For Highland and Island Youth" Fund and the "For Beloved Hoang Sa - Truong Sa" Club held a member meeting to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Club's establishment (August 1, 2014 - August 1, 2026).
Attending the program were Ms. Truong My Hoa - former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President, Chairwoman of the "For the Youth of Highlands and Islands" Fund, Head of the "For Beloved Hoang Sa - Truong Sa" Club; Mr. Dang Ngoc Tung - former Member of the Party Central Committee, former Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Deputy Head of the Club; Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee and members.
On the occasion of the new school year, the program awarded 355 annual scholarships to students in Dong Thap and Vinh Long who are students in border and island areas and children of the Border Guard force. In addition, 28 "Kindness Hands" scholarships were awarded to children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Fund and Club also supported 2 Great Solidarity houses, each worth 80 million VND, for families in difficult circumstances in Tan Hao commune, Vinh Long province and Tan Dien commune, Dong Thap province.
Speaking at the program, Ms. Truong My Hoa called on members to continue to join hands to care for the young generation in mountainous areas, borders, and islands. After 12 years of operation, the Club has built a network in 34 provinces and cities in the country and 12 countries, with 6,000 individual members, 202 collective member units and 82 group members. The Club has admitted 2 more collective member units and 40 individual members in Dong Thap. Mr. Cao Nguyen Thi - Vice Rector of Tien Giang University - was welcomed as the 6,000th member.
Towards continuing to accompany students in border and island areas, the Fund and Club launched the UpRace 2026 response with the message "Walking for a rising Vietnam".
At the program, 16 collectives, including 11 member groups and 5 administrative units in Dong Thap, registered to participate with 3,110 athletes, the total expected distance is 90,500km. The activity aims to contribute to fundraising, supplementing resources to award scholarships to students in border and island areas.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and 6 individuals who made positive contributions in activities to care for people and students in difficult circumstances in the area.
Within the framework of the program, Lieutenant General Pham Van Dy - former Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of Military Region 7, member of the Club - reported on current affairs about the East Sea and the world, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of members towards the homeland's sea and islands.
