On September 12, in Long Son commune, Ho Chi Minh City, Brigade 167, Naval Region 2, in coordination with the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYU) of Xuan Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh City, organized the program "Gratitude for Border and Islands" in 2026. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Political Department of Brigade 167 - attended and directed the program.
Also attending the program were Mr. Le Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Xuan Hoa ward, along with more than 120 officers, soldiers, union members, and association members (DVHV) of Brigade 167 and Xuan Hoa ward.
The program aims to educate patriotism, foster revolutionary ideals, raise awareness and responsibility of VNUs and youth for the task of building and protecting the Fatherland, especially protecting border, sea and island sovereignty; and at the same time strengthen the solidarity and close relationship between local youth and Navy officers and soldiers.
At the program, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan informed about the situation of the sea and islands; introduced the traditions and tasks of Naval Region 2 and Brigade 167. Thereby helping officers and soldiers of Xuan Hoa Ward understand more about the position, role, and tasks of the Vietnam People's Navy in the cause of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Le Thanh Binh affirmed that the program "Gratitude for Border and Islands" is a practical activity to celebrate the success of the X Congress of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Ho Chi Minh City, towards the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Youth Federation (October 15, 1956 - October 15, 2026). The program not only creates conditions for officials and Youth Union members to have practical experiences but also contributes to helping local youth understand more deeply about the task of protecting sea and island sovereignty, thereby raising awareness and responsibility towards the Fatherland.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Youth Federation of Xuan Hoa Ward presented Brigade 167 with meaningful gifts, expressing the feelings and concern of local youth for officers and soldiers who are day and night performing tasks at sea and islands. This is a practical source of encouragement, contributing to tightening the military-civilian and rear relations with Navy officers and soldiers.
