On the afternoon of May 12, at the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2026-2031, Mr. Hoang Dinh Thang - Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe had a presentation with the theme: "Contributions of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe in implementing the Front's action program in the past time and some proposals to promote the Front's role in the new situation".
According to Mr. Hoang Dinh Thang, currently, the Vietnamese community in Europe has more than one million people, living, studying and working in many countries, concentrated in France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and Russia. This is a community with a high level of education, good integration ability, increasingly affirming its position in the local society and playing an important bridge role in cooperative relations between Vietnam and European countries.
Over the years, under the attention of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and functional agencies, the system of Vietnamese associations in Europe has been constantly consolidated and developed. The Union of Vietnamese Associations (Union of Associations) in Europe, established in 2016, has gradually promoted its role in connecting the community, preserving national identity and looking towards the homeland.
With the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and attachment to the Fatherland, the Union of Associations has actively implemented action programs, campaigns and patriotic emulation movements launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Through this, some outstanding results have been achieved such as consolidating community solidarity, preserving cultural identity and Vietnamese in the young generation.
Through a network of associations in many European countries, especially the effective community activity model in the Czech Republic with dozens of member associations and affiliated branches, we have strongly promoted cultural, educational, sports, charitable and root-oriented activities.
Programs such as "Vietnamese Language Honoring Day", Vietnamese language and traditional culture classes for the second and third generations have contributed to preserving national identity and nurturing the spirit of returning to their homeland in the community of Vietnamese people far from the Fatherland.
The Union of Associations and member associations have actively participated in people-to-people exchange activities, promoting the image of the country, people and innovation achievements of Vietnam to international friends; contributing to enhancing the position of the Vietnamese community in Europe, while creating favorable conditions to promote investment, trade, education, science and technology and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and host countries.
In particular, the recognition of the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority in the Czech Republic in 2013 and Slovakia in 2023 is an important milestone, affirming the maturity, successful integration and prestige of the Vietnamese community in Europe.
In difficult times such as epidemics, natural disasters, and fires, the Vietnamese community in Europe always promotes the tradition of mutual affection, solidarity, and social responsibility.
Responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, European compatriots have actively participated in social security activities, disaster relief and support for compatriots in the country. In the support phase for compatriots affected by major storms in 2025 alone, the Vietnamese community in Europe has donated tens of billions of VND; of which the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic contributed more than 10 billion VND.
In addition, the Union of Associations and member associations also actively support people to integrate into the local society, comply with the law, build an image of a united, responsible and sustainable Vietnamese community...
