On the morning of July 12, the Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee of Hoa Khanh ward (Da Nang City) organized the first voluntary blood donation day in 2026 with the theme "Red Drop of July". The event attracted a large number of officials, teachers and local people to participate.
At the festival, teacher Phi Thi Net (currently working at Duy Tan Elementary School) was one of the people who arrived very early to complete registration procedures. In this phase, Ms. Net registered to donate 250ml of blood. This is also the 17th time she has participated in this meaningful activity.
Sharing about the motivation to stick with voluntary blood donation work, Ms. Net said: "Personally, I realize that voluntary blood donation is a noble and deeply humane gesture. Through research, I learned that the reserve blood source at hospitals is still lacking, especially for critically ill patients, cancer patients or emergency cases. Therefore, on average, I try to participate in blood donation twice a year with the hope of contributing a small part of myself to join hands with the health sector to save patients.
Not only actively participating in personal blood donation, in her position as Vice Principal, Ms. Net is also an active person in propagating and mobilizing colleagues at the unit to participate. In this "Red Drop of July" festival, Duy Tan Elementary School had 5 officials and teachers participating in voluntary blood donation.

According to information from the Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee of Hoa Khanh ward, the first blood donation day of 2026 is being implemented to meet the blood demand for emergency and treatment of patients in the locality.
Mr. Tran Dinh Nam - Vice Chairman of the Hoa Khanh Ward Red Cross Association said that the planned target for this blood donation is 500 units of blood. However, thanks to careful preparation and widespread propaganda and mobilization to all classes of people, civil servants, armed forces and workers in the area, the organizing committee expects the actual blood received to exceed the target, reaching about 600 units of blood.
This is the first voluntary blood donation in 2026 of the locality. The movement has received very positive responses from agencies, units, schools and residential groups. In the ward, there are currently many individuals with typical blood donation achievements, donating blood many times, including cases that have donated blood more than 20 times," Mr. Nam added.
To maintain a stable reserve blood source, the Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee of Hoa Khanh ward has developed a specific plan for the next stages. It is expected that the 2nd voluntary blood donation phase in 2026 will be held around December this year, with the goal of continuing to receive at least 500 units of blood.
The red blood drops given by volunteers such as teacher Phi Thi Net and hundreds of people in Hoa Khanh ward not only contribute to bringing life to patients in need of blood, but also strongly spread the message "Each drop of blood given - a life left behind" in the community.
