Quang Ninh supports Dien Bien with 5 billion VND to overcome the consequences of floods

Dien Bien - On August 4, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province received 5 billion VND from Quang Ninh province to support people affected by floods.

Accordingly, the Quang Ninh Provincial Working Group led by Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, directly went to Dien Bien to present the support of 5 billion VND.

On the same day, the Dien Bien Provincial Social Policy Bank Branch presented a support of 100 million VND to the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

Speaking at the reception, Mr. Mua A Vang - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province - thanked and acknowledged the timely and valuable support of Quang Ninh province.

Mr. Mua A Vang also called on agencies, businesses, collectives, individuals and philanthropists to join hands to support people in flooded areas of Dien Bien.

During August 1-3), the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province allocated 700 million VND from the provincial Relief Fund for households whose houses were washed away, injured, or died. Coordinate with agencies and benefactors to support instant noodles, rice, clean water and Aquatabs disinfectants for people in the 5 communes of Tia Dinh, Na Son, Xa Dung, Phinh Giang, Muong Luan.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province, from July 31 to August 4, the whole province had 10 deaths, 12 injuries, and more than 600 houses damaged. The total estimated property damage is over 700 billion VND.

In particular, in Xa Dung commune, 7 deaths and 4 injuries were recorded due to flash floods and landslides. Tia Dinh commune had 3 deaths and 8 others injured. The victims were mainly women and children, living in remote areas.

At the working session with the Standing Committee of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee on disaster recovery (afternoon of August 3), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to balance the reserve fund, urgently support Dien Bien with 200 billion VND to urgently deploy disaster recovery work in the immediate future; and at the same time provide 100 tons of rice to provide flood relief.

The Prime Minister also requested immediate support of 100 million VND/household (for 80 households with completely damaged houses); 30 million VND/household (for 241 households with severe damage); assigned the Ministry of National Defense to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to urgently implement procedures to build houses for the people.

In recent days, floods and landslides in the North Central and Northern mountainous provinces have killed and left many people missing, houses, schools and maple blossoms were swept away and submerged in mud, affecting local production activities.
