Hai Phong Food Bank was organized by the City Red Cross Society in coordination with the Vietnam Food Bank Network (Food Bank Vietnam) to launch and introduce the "Hai Phong Food Community" Project.
Hai Phong Food Bank has the function of receiving, coordinating and distributing excess food sources but still ensuring quality and safety. Through connecting businesses, manufacturers, distribution systems, supermarkets, restaurants and philanthropists, Hai Phong Food Bank supports vulnerable groups such as workers in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people, children in special circumstances and vulnerable groups in the city.
Hai Phong Food Bank is a member of the Vietnam Food Bank Network. The implementation of the Food Bank model in Hai Phong city is of great significance in the context of increasing demand for social security, while posing an urgent need to reduce food waste and effectively and sustainably allocate social resources.

In the immediate future, the food warehouse of Hai Phong Food Bank will be located at the headquarters of the City Red Cross Society ( facility 2), No. 2 Phan Boi Chau, Thanh Dong Ward. The Executive Board of Hai Phong Food Bank is responsible for organizing resource connection, receiving, controlling quality and distributing food to ensure timeliness and the right subjects. At the same time, be ready to mobilize and distribute food to support people in areas facing difficulties when storms, floods, natural disasters, and epidemics occur.
Mr. Bui Manh Phuc, Chairman of the Hai Phong Red Cross Society, said that the launch of the Hai Phong Food Bank is of practical significance, contributing to spreading the spirit of humanity and sharing in the community; at the same time, it is an effective solution in connecting surplus food sources with people in difficult circumstances. Mr. Phuc expressed his hope that the Hai Phong Food Bank model will operate effectively and sustainably and continue to receive the support and cooperation of organizations, businesses and people.
The Organizing Committee also introduced the operating model of Hai Phong Food Bank; announced the decision to establish the Executive Committee and Club of Hai Phong Food Bank; and informed the orientation of activities in the coming time.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented 30 gifts to households and individuals in difficult circumstances in the area, each gift including essential foods such as rice, instant noodles, eggs, cooking oil, milk, candy... worth more than 600,000 VND and 200,000 VND in cash.
The Vietnam Food Bank Network (Food Bank Vietnam) was initiated in 2016 with the goal of reducing food waste and ensuring food security for vulnerable groups in Vietnam. By 2019, Food Bank Vietnam officially became a member of the Global Food banking Network, connecting with more than 50 countries around the world.
