On December 17, the Vietnam Association of the Blind held the 4th Patriotic Emulation Congress, summarizing the emulation movement for the period 2020-2025, direction and tasks for the period 2025-2030.
The congress was attended by Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central Trade Unions Tran Thang.
Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Mr. Pham Viet Thu - President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Blind said that in the period of 2020-2025, patriotic emulation movements will be carried out in the context of the world, the country and localities having many advantages and difficulties. However, ministries, government committees, business communities, and philanthropists have directed, accompanied, and coordinated to help the Vietnam Association of the Blind effectively carry out the patriotic emulation movement.

Reporting on the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020-2025, Ms. Dinh Viet Anh - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Blind said that the Association at all levels has implemented an emulation movement according to the motto "Towards the grassroots, taking members as the center, taking efficiency as a measure". Thereby, it has created a clear change in the awareness and actions of cadres and members in the entire Association system.

Regarding the work of building and developing the organization, the Association continues to be directed by the Central Association, achieving many positive results. To date, the Association organization system is present in 28 provinces and cities with 72,697 members. The Association at all levels determines that cadres are the decisive factor for effective operations. In the past 5 years, 244 cadres have been trained, managed, and operational skills at the Center for Cadre Training and Rehabilitation for the Blind.
Labor, employment and caring for the lives of members have always been identified by the Association as one of the key tasks in the patriotic emulation movement. Through the program "Action on employment - Sustainable poverty reduction", each year the Associations at all levels have created new jobs for members; contributing to reducing the poverty rate by 1% to 1.5%...
In particular, the Association has coordinated with the education sector to open classes for illiteracy eradication and Braille integration. Over the past 5 years, 112 members have passed the university and college entrance exam; on average, more than 1,300 students study at all levels of general education, college, and university each year.
Speaking at the Congress, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central Trade Unions Tran Thang acknowledged and highly appreciated the effectiveness of the Association's patriotic emulation movements in the recent period.
Mr. Tran Thang suggested: "Entering the new stage, with the development of science and technology as both an opportunity and a challenge, I suggest that the Association must innovate more strongly and substantially; strongly promote digital transformation and the application of information technology; effectively implement sustainable poverty reduction programs to create jobs for the blind...".
The Congress also identified directions, tasks and solutions for emulation and reward work in the 2025-2030 period, promoting the tradition of patriotic emulation; all cadres and members of the Vietnam Association of the Blind are determined to uphold the spirit of solidarity, proactively create and innovate, contributing to building a strong, integrated Association and contributing to the overall development of the country.
At the Congress, in recognition of the achievements of outstanding individuals in the patriotic emulation movement over the past 5 years, 58 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Blind.
