On the morning of August 25, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh My Tay commune (An Giang province) organized the 11th Scholarship Award Ceremony named Quan Co Tran Van Thanh, supporting local students before the new school year.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Luong Van Tu Cuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh My Tay commune (An Giang province) - the unit that established and operated the scholarship, sent his deep gratitude to philanthropists, organizations, and businesses who have always accompanied, contributed efforts and funds to maintain this humane scholarship model for more than 10 years.
In its 11th edition, the "Tran Van Thanh Tournament" Scholarship Fund awarded a total of 76 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances but with good or excellent academic achievements, currently studying at 3 levels of education (primary, secondary, high school) in the commune. In particular, the highlight of this year is that the scholarship model has been expanded to support 02 excellent freshmen to enter university (period 2026 - 2030).
Each new student will receive a scholarship package worth 20,000,000 VND (uniformly divided for 4 academic years, 5,000,000 VND per year). Depending on each level of study, the value of scholarships ranges from 1 million VND to 20 million VND. The total funding is contributed by the Management Board of Quan Co Tran Van Thanh Temple, the Executive Board of Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha, the Red Cross Society of the commune and Ut Ly Enterprise.
The scholarship named Quan Co Tran Van Thanh is not only of material significance but also a great pride in the homeland's tradition. During his lifetime, Quan Co Tran Van Thanh was a national hero, the person who raised the flag of the Bay Thua uprising (1867 - 1873) to resolutely fight against French colonialism, leaving a deep mark in the history of the struggle of the people of An Giang and the Mekong Delta. Giving his name to the scholarship fund is a bridge carrying profound educational meaning, commemorating and expressing gratitude to the national hero, and at the same time igniting the patriotic spirit and striving to rise up of the young generation.
