On September 12, a working delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province led by Ms. Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province visited and encouraged teacher Hoang Thi Hien at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi).
Here, Ms. Vo Thi Minh Sinh, on behalf of organizations and individuals, presented 2,002,269,556 VND to support Ms. Hoang Thi Hien.
This is the amount of money mobilized through Nghe An Trang and Nghe An Front, then sent to the account of the Nghe An Provincial Relief Committee.
Also participating in the delegation were Ms. Le Thi Hoai Chung - Director of Nghe An Department of Health; Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy - Secretary of the Party Committee of Kim Lien commune; Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province and representatives of a number of businesses, organizations and philanthropists.
The working delegation visited Ms. Hien's health situation, encouraged her to continue treatment, recover her health, and return to her family and work soon.
As Lao Dong Newspaper reported, Ms. Hoang Thi Hien (born in 1994) is a teacher at Phu Son Kindergarten, Nghia Hanh commune, Nghe An province. At about 2 pm on August 28, at Tan Lam school point, a 2-year-old boy suddenly ran out onto the road while a truck was approaching. Discovering the student in danger, Ms. Hien ran after him, hugged him and put him in a safe position. The child escaped, while Ms. Hien was run over both legs by the truck.
After being given first aid and transferred to medical facilities in Nghe An, on the morning of August 29, Ms. Hien was taken to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital for treatment.
Due to severe injuries, her right leg was complexly crushed, tendons and bones were damaged. Doctors performed surgery with the aim of preserving the limb to the maximum extent, but after treatment, Ms. Hien had to have her right calf amputated.
The female teacher's circumstances also face many difficulties. She is a single mother, raising two young children, a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old; the three mothers and children do not have their own houses and are living with their maternal grandparents.
In recent days, many agencies, organizations and individuals have organized visits, donations, and support for Ms. Hien's treatment and stabilization of her life.
On September 8, the Minister of Education and Training decided to award a Certificate of Merit to Ms. Hoang Thi Hien to recognize her courageous act of saving students.
