Ms. Hoang Thi Hien (born in 1994) is a teacher at Phu Son Kindergarten. At about 2 pm on August 28, at Tan Lam school point, a 2-year-old boy suddenly ran out onto the road when a truck was approaching.

Discovering that the student was in danger, Ms. Hien immediately ran after him, hugged him and put him in a safe position. The child escaped, but Ms. Hien was run over both legs by the truck.

After being given first aid and transferred to medical facilities in Nghe An, she was taken to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi) for treatment from the morning of August 29.

Due to severe injuries, her right leg was complexly crushed, tendons and bones were damaged. Doctors performed emergency surgery with the aim of maximally preserving the limb. However, after about 10 days of treatment, the right leg continued to become necrotic and the patient was indicated for amputation of the right calf.

Ms. Hien's circumstances are also particularly difficult. She is a single mother, raising two young children, a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old. The three mothers and children do not have their own houses and are living with their maternal grandparents.

Meritorious Teacher Tran Huu Hy - Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Association of Former Teachers said that the information that Ms. Hien bravely rushed out to save students from danger in front of truck wheels, while she herself was seriously injured, has moved the team of Nghe An former teachers.
