On April 8, in Hung My commune, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long province organized a gift-giving ceremony for Khmer people on the occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay Tet. This is an activity to encourage and support poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households to have conditions to celebrate Tet fully and warmly.
Mr. Pham Van Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee - and local leaders directly presented 145 gifts to poor and near-poor households in Hung My commune. Each gift is worth 500,000 VND, deducted from the Provincial Fund for the Poor.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Pham Van Cuong said that although the gifts are small, they contain the feelings of the Party, State and Fatherland Front of the province, aiming to encourage Khmer people to celebrate a joyful and peaceful traditional Tet and continue to develop the economy and improve their lives in the coming time.
In addition, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee coordinated with localities to present a total of 4,958 gifts to 1,180 poor households, 2,778 near-poor households and 1,000 poor households, contributing to helping Khmer people celebrate the Chol Chnam Thmay Tet joyfully, warmly and unitedly.
This activity shows the concern of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front for vulnerable groups in society, and at the same time encourages Khmer people to strive to develop the economy and improve their lives in the coming time.
