On January 29, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khe Sanh commune (Quang Tri province) solemnly organized a ceremony to pay respects, commemorate and bury 5 sets of remains of martyrs who were just discovered and collected in the commune.
According to the Team for Repatriating Martyrs' Remains of Economic - National Defense Team 337, 5 martyrs' remains were found in the period from October 21, 2025 to January 6, 2026 in the area of Ta Rung and Xa Re villages, Khe Sanh commune. The remains are located at a depth of about 1m, wrapped in the martyr's body; many artifacts were found along with them such as tanks, parachutes, crossbows, buttons, glass tubes, pens, information wires, AK bullet casings...
In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, delegates and people offered flowers and incense, and observed a minute of silence to commemorate and express gratitude for the great contributions of heroic martyrs who bravely fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Reading the eulogy at the memorial service, leaders of Khe Sanh commune expressed their deep gratitude for the noble sacrifice of the martyrs; and affirmed that the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the area will continue to unite and strive to build their homeland to become increasingly rich, beautiful, and civilized.
After the memorial service, 5 sets of remains of martyrs were solemnly buried at the Khe Sanh Commune Martyrs' Cemetery, in the emotion and gratitude of the government, armed forces and local people.
