In a solemn atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam, the family of the late General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, President Luong Cuong, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu and General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense sent wreaths to comrade General Le Van Dung.
According to the Funeral and Family Committee, after a period of serious illness, although he had been wholeheartedly cared for and treated by the Party, State, Army, collective professors, doctors and family, due to old age and weakness, General Le Van Dung passed away at 3:40 PM on January 9, 2026 (ie, November 21, the year of At Ty) at his private residence, at the age of 81.

General Le Van Dung (birth name Nguyen Van Noi) was born on December 25, 1945; hometown: Phong My commune, Giong Trom district, former Ben Tre province, now Luong Hoa commune, Vinh Long province; permanent residence at No. 702, An Binh hamlet, Phu Tuc commune, Vinh Long province.
He enlisted on May 14, 1963; joined the Party on September 23, 1965. He was a member of the Party Central Committee of the VIII, IX, X terms; Secretary of the Party Central Committee of the IX, X terms; National Assembly Deputy of the XI, XII terms.
He was formerly Deputy Minister of National Defense - Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
