Gia Lai - The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee calls on all organizations, businesses and people to join hands to support and help people rebuild their houses and stabilize their lives after storm 13.

Calling for cooperation in overcoming floods

On November 11, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Gia Lai province issued a letter calling for support for people to overcome the consequences of storm No. 13.

"In recent days, storm No. 13 with great intensity and destructive power has caused severe damage to Gia Lai province.

According to preliminary statistics, storm No. 13 killed 2 people, injured 6 people, collapsed tens of thousands of houses, blown off roofs and damaged; seriously damaged production and business establishments, traffic works, irrigation works... Total damage of more than 5,200 billion VND.

With the spirit of "sharing food and clothes", "a piece of food when hungry is worth a package when full", the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee calls on cadres, civil servants, public employees, soldiers of the armed forces and those who receive salaries from the state budget to donate at least 1 day's salary.

Workers in agencies, units, and enterprises donate 1 day's income; union members, association members, youth, and households with an average living standard or higher donate from 50,000 - 100,000 VND or essential goods. The time to receive support is 1 month, from November 10 to December 10.

Mobilizing all resources to help people rebuild their houses

Immediately after storm No. 13, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province and its member organizations coordinated to inspect, verify the damage and mobilize resources from people, businesses, and sponsoring organizations to support the people.

More than 1,400 youth union members participated in 92 teams cleaning and repairing houses, bracing corrugated iron roofs and cleaning the environment, helping people soon stabilize their lives. The Front also mobilizes materials and construction materials, and supports funding for households whose houses have collapsed or are severely damaged, helping them rebuild their houses and soon stabilize their lives.

Mr. Dinh Ngoc Hai - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province - said that immediately after the storm, the Provincial Front coordinated with agencies, units, and organizations to mobilize resources to help the locality quickly overcome the damage and soon bring people's lives back to normal.

To date, many businesses and corporations have joined hands to support more than 12 billion VND for storm recovery. According to the plan, on the afternoon of November 13, the Provincial Front will organize a launching ceremony to support and call on organizations, businesses, agencies, units and individuals to continue to join hands to help the province soon stabilize after natural disasters.

"The Provincial Front Standing Committee has assigned the Youth Union to mobilize union members and young people at the grassroots level to contribute working days, help households rebuild their houses, clean the environment, and support schools to welcome students back soon," said Mr. Hai.

Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods

Consecutive storms and floods have caused many deaths, missing and injuries; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern mountainous provinces and the central provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
