On November 11, Hanoi City held a ceremony to honor advanced models and outstanding teachers and celebrate the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day.
Education in the capital has many improvements
According to Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) Tran The Cuong, the whole city currently has a total of more than 2.3 million students; nearly 140,000 staff and teachers; 2,954 schools at all levels; 29 vocational education - continuing education centers; Hanoi Education and Training Center; 352 vocational education institutions; the rate of public schools meeting national standards in the whole city reached 80.6%...

Students in the capital lead the country in the national excellent student competition with 200 students winning prizes; 6 prizes in the national science and technology research competition; Second prize in the International Science and Technology Competition (ISEF 2025); 18 students won prizes in international excellent student competitions. Hanoi is honored to be chosen as the host of the 2026 World Astronomical and Astronomical Physics Olympic Competition.
In addition to achievements, Mr. Cuong also frankly acknowledged a number of limitations such as: The quality of staff and teachers between inner-city and suburban schools is still different; there is still a local surplus and shortage of teachers; shortage of schools in densely populated areas; school violence, food hygiene and safety in schools in some places and some places still occur.

According to Mr. Cuong, the industry will implement many solutions, achieving the goal of building Hanoi into a truly large, typical center of the country in high-quality education and training, adapting to digital transformation, innovation and international integration, and becoming a global learning city. The capital's education sector must be a leading unit, on par with the education institutions in Southeast Asia and the world.
Hanoi needs to strictly control extra teaching and learning
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son acknowledged, commended and congratulated the results that the capital's education has achieved in the past school year and affirmed that this is the result of the great, tireless efforts of the entire team of cadres, teachers and students.
According to the minister, with the urgent requirement of the Capital Education Department to increase the number of high-quality general schools, especially high schools, expanding and improving the quality of the school system evenly will be a fundamental solution, both minimizing the unnecessary pressure and stress of the 10th grade entrance exam and ensuring a quality learning environment for all students.

The Minister set the task, Hanoi needs to be exemplary and pioneering in developing comprehensive students, effectively organizing secondary schools to improve the quality of education and skills education.
Another requirement set by the education sector commander for Hanoi is to strictly control extra teaching and learning, while resolutely ending all forms of variation of this activity to ensure a healthy learning environment, reducing unnecessary learning pressure for students and families.
The Minister said that teachers in the capital need to be elegant and modern examples to create the future generation of students. The elegance of teachers is reflected in exemplary behavior, strictness in standard language and behavior, and the respect of students. Along with that, the professional capacity of teachers needs to be associated with innovation capacity and digital capacity.
The teachers who are honored are typical examples of innovation, outstanding teachers today are worthy recognition for the higher and greater efforts of the teachers. This is not only a personal achievement but also a vivid testament to the pioneering spirit, responsibility and determination to excellently complete the tasks of teachers.

At the commendation ceremony, 32 collectives and 75 individuals were awarded the First, Second, and Third Class Labor Medals; the Government's Excellent Emulation Flag; the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit - recognizing outstanding achievements and outstanding contributions to the cause of education.
