19 central and southern provinces and cities proactively respond to heavy rain and strong winds

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from July 27 to the night of July 28, the Central Highlands and Southern regions will have moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall from 40-100mm, locally over 200mm.

Notably, some places are at risk of heavy rain intensity over 100mm within 3 hours.

At sea, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ho Chi Minh City, the west of the central and southern East Sea area, including the sea area west of the Truong Sa special zone, has strong southwest winds of level 6, gusts of level 7-8, sea waves 2-3m high.

The National Steering Committee for Civil Defense requests localities to closely monitor warning bulletins and weather forecasts; promptly inform local authorities and people to implement appropriate preventive measures.

Localities need to proactively review and be ready to evacuate people in areas at high risk of deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides to safe places; and at the same time arrange forces and vehicles on the spot to support people and overcome consequences when situations occur.

For coastal provinces and cities in the Central and Southern regions, functional agencies need to promptly notify captains, vehicle owners and ships operating at sea of strong winds and big waves to proactively prevent and adjust production plans, ensuring safety for people and property.

Localities are also required to maintain communication with ships and boats, be ready to handle bad situations; strengthen communication, guide people on skills to respond to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail, flash floods, landslides and strong winds at sea.

The National Steering Committee for Civil Defense requests units to organize serious duty shifts and regularly report the situation to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
