Latest update from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of storm No. 1's circulation, Bach Long Vi special zone has had strong winds of level 9, gusts of level 11; Co To (Quang Ninh) has strong winds of level 8, gusts of level 10, sea waves 2.25m high; Cua Ong (Quang Ninh) has strong winds of level 8, gusts of level 9; Mong Cai (Quang Ninh) has strong winds of level 9, gusts of level 12; Quang Ha (Quang Ninh) has strong winds of level 8, gusts of level 9.
The meteorological agency assessed that storm No. 1 is the first storm to operate in the East Sea in 2026, with not too strong intensity (most strong reaching level 9, gusts level 11) but moving slowly, the impact time is relatively long. When approaching the shore, the storm moved slowly, maintaining for a long time in the coastal sea area of Quang Ninh before going inland, causing strong winds to continue for many hours in Mong Cai and the Northeast coastal area.
At 7:00 AM on July 5th, the center of storm No. 1 was located at about 22.3 degrees North latitude; 108.0 degrees East longitude, over the southern area of Guangxi province (China). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was strong at level 8 (62 - 74 km/h), gusting at level 10, moving in the North-Northeast direction at a speed of 5-10 km/h.
Forecast for the next 12 hours, the storm will move in a North-Northeast direction, at a speed of about 10 km/h weakening into a tropical depression, then a low pressure area. By 7:00 PM on July 5th, the center of the low pressure area will be located at about 23.4 degrees North latitude - 108.3 degrees East longitude; over the southern area of Guangxi province (China).
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that although the storm has moved to China and is weakening, the risk of natural disasters due to the storm's circulation is still high.
Regarding heavy rain, the affected area is the Northeast of the Northern region. Risk of heavy rain on July 5 with common rainfall of 50 - 100mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm.
Prolonged heavy rain may cause flooding in urban areas, industrial parks and low-lying areas; floods on small rivers and streams; flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, especially in the Northeast provinces. Localities and people need to continue to closely monitor forecast and warning bulletins and not be subjective until rain and wind significantly decrease.
For the mainland coastal area, affected areas: Mainland and coastal areas in the north of Quang Ninh province. Risk of strong winds at level 6-7, gusts at level 9-10.
At sea, affected area: Northern Gulf of Tonkin (including Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To special zones).
