At 10:00 AM on August 22, the storm center was located at about 21.2 degrees North latitude - 108.0 degrees East longitude, over the sea area of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong, about 120km north of Bach Long Vi special zone. The strongest wind near the storm center was level 8 (62-74 km/h), gusting to level 10.
Forecast for the next 24 hours, the storm will move in a South direction, at a speed of about 3 km/h.
By 10:00 AM on August 23, the storm's center will be located at about 20.5 degrees North latitude - 107.9 degrees East longitude; in the sea area north of Bach Long Vi special zone, about 115km east of Hai Phong. Wind intensity is strong at level 8, gusting at level 10.
Forecast for the next 48 hours, the storm will move in a Southeast-east direction, at a speed of about 3 km/h.
By 10:00 AM on August 24, the storm's center will be located at about 20.1 degrees North latitude - 108.7 degrees East longitude; over the Northern Gulf of Tonkin area, about 110km east of Bach Long Vi special zone. The wind intensity will maintain at level 8, gusting at level 10.
Forecast for the next 72 hours, the storm will move in a Northeast direction, at a speed of 3-5 km/h.
By 10:00 AM on August 25th, the storm's center will be located at about 20.7 degrees North latitude - 109.7 degrees East longitude; in the sea area east of the Northern Gulf of Tonkin, about 220km east-northeast of the Bach Long Vi special zone. Wind intensity is strong at level 8, gusting at level 10.
From 72 to 120 hours later, the storm is likely to change direction and move in a North-Northeast direction, moving about 5km per hour, and is likely to gradually weaken into a tropical depression.
Regarding the impact of the storm at sea, the Gulf of Tonkin area (including special zones: Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai; Hon Dau island), the coastal sea area of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong provinces has strong winds of level 6-7, the area near the storm center passing through strong level 8, gusts of level 10; sea waves are 2-4m high; strong rough seas.
The coastal mainland of Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city has strong winds at level 6-7, gusts at level 8-9.
Regarding heavy rain, the Northeast region, the south of Phu Tho and Thanh Hoa provinces from August 22 to the night of August 24 will have common rainfall of 100-200mm, locally over 400mm; especially Quang Ninh, Hai Phong commonly 250-350mm, locally over 600mm; Lang Son, Bac Ninh commonly 200-300mm, locally over 500mm. Rain developments are likely to continue after the night of August 24.
Heavy rain may cause flooding in urban areas, industrial parks and low-lying areas; increasing the risk of floods on small rivers and streams, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.
