According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a low pressure area is active in the sea east of the Philippines. At 1:00 p.m. on August 26, the low pressure area was at about 15.5 - 16.5 degrees north latitude; 123.5 - 124.5 degrees east longitude.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 - 36 hours, the low pressure area will move west-northwest, at a speed of 15 - 20km/h, entering the eastern sea area of the North East Sea and is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression.
The meteorological agency warned that due to the influence of the low pressure area (later likely to strengthen into a tropical depression), around August 27 - 28, the North and Central East Sea (including the sea area of Hoang Sa) will have winds gradually increasing, the weather will turn bad. Ship operating in the above areas need to proactively prevent and ensure safety.
Regarding the current sea weather, at Hon Ngu station (Nghe An), there are gusts of level 8, Phu Quy station (Lam Dong) has strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 7.
On the night of August 26 and August 27, the sea area from Lam Dong to Ho Chi Minh City, the central East Sea area, the northern sea area of the South East Sea area (including the northern sea area of Truong Sa) will have strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 7-8. Rough seas, waves 2 - 3.5m high.
The Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, the North, the central and southern East Sea (including the special areas of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6 - 7 and waves over 2m high.
On the night of August 27 and August 28, the sea area from Lam Dong to Ho Chi Minh City, the area between the East Sea and the northern sea area of the South East Sea (including the northern sea area of Truong Sa) will have strong southwest winds of level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8; waves 2 - 3.5m high; rough seas.
The risk level of natural disasters due to strong winds at sea is level 2. All ships operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by tornadoes, strong winds and big waves.
