Building green streets
In 2014, Binh Duong province issued “Regulations on management of traffic works, lighting, drainage, and urban trees in Binh Duong province”. From here, the province began to create a legal corridor for planting, protecting, caring for, and developing trees in urban areas and industrial zones.
In 2018, tree planting was launched in some places throughout the province, with the government, businesses and people working together. Tree planting, care and protection on the roads were carried out systematically. All trees were watered and cared for and had support poles to prevent them from falling during heavy rains and winds.
Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee said that in 2021 and 2022, the province planted nearly 155,000 trees of all kinds. Thereby, contributing to increasing the forest and perennial tree coverage rate in the province to 57.5%.
Up to now, most urban areas and industrial zones have ensured the green tree ratio according to regulations. Tree planting and care are widespread in every agency, factory, school and household.
Noting the route in Binh Duong New City, trees on both sides are planted systematically, providing shade. Binh Duong New City Park is the place with the most green space.
Roads in the expanded VSIP II industrial park in Tan Uyen city have also received investment in green development. Rows of trees over 10 years old have begun to provide shade. Roads in the industrial park are also greener and cleaner.
In Ben Cat town, the roads connecting industrial parks and urban areas are also covered with green. Rows of 10-year-old trees provide shade and cover the roads.
On My Phuoc Tan Van road, 5-year-old trees are starting to grow and provide shade. My Phuoc Tan Van road from Dinh Hoa roundabout (Thu Dau Mot city) to Bau Bang district administrative center is covered with green by 4 rows of trees on both sides.
Typical appearance of green urban
Thu Dau Mot City is a pioneer in developing urban green trees. Thousands of oil trees and star trees are planted in vacant lots and on the streets of Thu Dau Mot City.
To green the city, the City People's Committee has invested in 121/121 parks, flower gardens, islets, flower gardens, and lawns in the city, reaching 100% of the plan.
Notably, the city has used land funds in "golden" locations in neighborhoods to build small parks. Trees are planted in the parks to create shade.
Recently, all levels of sectors, localities and people in Thu Dau Mot city have mobilized resources and implemented the urban greening campaign, aiming to build a "Green - Friendly City" in the period of 2024-2030.
From June 2024 to present, the city has planted 427,838/360,000 new trees, reaching 118.84% of the set target. Implemented planting 27 specialized tree gardens with 31,570 trees and nursed 334,921/370,000 trees, reaching a rate of 90.52%.
Currently, Thu Dau Mot city has an urban green land ratio of 14.62 m2/person, the total green area in the city is estimated at 44.47%.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dong - Secretary of Thu Dau Mot City Party Committee, the city mobilizes people to participate in the movement "each year, each person plants at least one more tree". The city strives to create a green, clean, beautiful living environment by 2030, improve air quality, reduce environmental pollution, reduce temperatures in urban areas and reduce the heat island effect. From there, promote the shift of the urban economic growth model towards green growth, gradually turning Thu Dau Mot into a "Green - Friendly City" with a tree coverage rate of 55% or more of the total land area of the city.
Plant 30 hectares of trees each year
Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee said that the province has launched a tree planting movement across the province and community activities and events to raise the spirit and responsibility of everyone to join hands in planting trees.
By 2030, the province strives to plant at least 30 hectares of new trees each year to complete the target set by the province's green tree project.
According to Mr. Mai Hung Dung - Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, Binh Duong's smart city construction plan from now until 2026 continues to affirm that sustainability and green growth are the "keys" to economic development.
