Building new generation industrial parks
Foreign investment capital continues to flow strongly into Binh Duong. Mr. Vo Van Minh - Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee said that in the first 9 months of 2024, the province attracted more than 1.6 billion USD in foreign investment capital. Up to now, Binh Duong ranks 3rd in the country in attracting FDI capital with more than 4,300 valid projects with a total registered investment capital of more than 41 billion USD, accounting for 8.5% of the total investment capital of the country.
According to the leader of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, in recent times, with an open and attractive investment environment, Binh Duong continues to attract many investment projects. To prepare clean infrastructure to welcome investors, the province has proactively built new generation industrial parks (IPs). The current direction in building IPs in Binh Duong is green - smart and sustainable.
Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited is a pioneer in building industrial parks that minimize environmental impacts. In Binh Duong, this enterprise has developed 3 industrial parks (VSIP I, VSIP II, VSIP II expansion) and all are considered model industrial parks in Vietnam. VSIP industrial parks are invested in synchronous infrastructure, select investors, and set high standards to minimize environmental impacts. These factors have initiated a green vision for industrial development in Binh Duong.
In 2022, Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture will continue to start construction of VSIP III Industrial Park in Tan Uyen Binh Duong with an area of 1,000 hectares. This will continue to be a model industrial park with strict standards on environment, safety, facilities, utilities through the application of smart technology... When completed and put into operation, this will be a synchronous, smart, green, environmentally friendly industrial park, bringing tens of thousands of jobs to workers.
Notably, Binh Duong has recently continued to build a 700-hectare green industrial park in Bau Bang. Mr. Vo Anh Tuan - Chief of Office of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee said that the province broke ground on Cay Truong Industrial Park on September 26.
Mr. Giang Quoc Dung - Deputy General Director of Becamex IDC Corporation - said that the legal procedures of Cay Truong Industrial Park have been completed. When put into operation, this Industrial Park is shaped as a place to gather multi-industry enterprises, in which priority is given to green production, innovation and ecology associated with environmental protection.
Selecting investors, aiming for green production
Mr. Mai Hung Dung - Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee - said that the province has been actively developing an innovation and science - technology ecosystem, building green, smart, sustainable industrial parks and urban areas, moving towards creating industrial parks associated with science - technology to attract industries with high added value.
At the same time, the province is conducting research to shift production towards automation, smart production processes and the use of clean energy, renewable energy, high export value, linking production with the development of industrial services... Attracting foreign investment, according to the above orientation, will also be more carefully selected.
A typical example of a company investing in building a green factory is the Lego Group (Denmark). According to Lego’s announcement, the factory will start production in 2024 and is the first carbon-neutral factory, using entirely renewable energy.
Mr. Preben Elnef - General Director of LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam, Vice President of LEGO Group said that the company also implemented a project to plant 50,000 trees around the factory to compensate for the trees that were removed to build the factory. Currently, 7 different types of trees native to Vietnam have been planted to "enrich" biodiversity, creating favorable conditions for sustainable "green" development.
Binh Duong needs to pioneer in building a green economy.
On September 26, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a conference to announce the planning of Binh Duong province for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Binh Duong province take three pioneering steps to build a green economy. The first is to connect the economy with the region, the country and the world, especially connecting green and digital transportation; The second pioneer is to proactively develop the digital economy, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy and knowledge economy. In particular, digitizing and greening the economy for rapid and sustainable development.
The third pioneer is to proactively and actively build new-generation industrial parks and industrial clusters (green - digital - high-tech - smart), focusing on innovation, application of 4.0 science and technology and training of high-quality human resources.
