The meteorological agency warns of the risk of flash floods and landslides after heavy rain in some communes and wards of provinces and cities in the North, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Khanh Hoa.

Updated bulletin issued at 4:30 PM on September 16th from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 24 hours (from 4:00 PM on September 15th to 4:00 PM on September 16th), areas of provinces/cities such as Son La, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have had heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places.

Warning in the next 6 hours, the above provinces/cities will continue to have rain with accumulated rainfall commonly in Son La and Lao Cai 10 - 20mm with over 30mm in some places; Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen and Quang Ninh 10 - 20mm with over 40mm in some places; Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An 20 - 40mm with over 70mm in some places; Khanh Hoa 30 - 60mm with over 100mm in some places.

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, subsidence due to rain, floods or currents is level 1; Phu Tho is level 2.

Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, causing local traffic congestion, affecting the movement of vehicles; civil and economic works causing damage to production activities and socio-economic activities.

The meteorological agency recommends that functional agencies in localities pay attention to reviewing flow bottlenecks and key locations in the area to have preventive and response measures.
