According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently, the area from Da Nang city to Lam Dong is experiencing localized thunderstorms.
Forecast for this afternoon and evening (May 15), the area from Da Nang city to Lam Dong and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10 - 30mm, locally heavy rain over 70mm.
The Northern mountainous region in the late afternoon and tonight is forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10 - 25mm, locally heavy rain over 50mm.
The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms are likely to occur with tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works, and infrastructure.
Localized heavy rain is likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes and flooding in low-lying areas. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.
Regarding the rainfall trend in the next month, the total rainfall in the area from Ha Tinh to Hue and the South Central Coast is generally lower than the multi-year average by 15 - 30%; the remaining areas are generally approximately equal to the multi-year average of the same period.
In the next month, there will be a possibility of widespread showers and thunderstorms nationwide.
