In the next 3 hours, thunderstorms will continue to appear in these localities, then it is likely to expand to Hung Son, La Dee, Dac Pring, Nam Giang, Ben Giang, Tay Giang, Dong Giang, Tra Van, Tra Tap, Nam Tra My, Tra Leng communes and wards and many neighboring areas.
The meteorological sector warns of the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind and localized heavy rain with rainfall possibly reaching 30mm/hour. The level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, hail is warned at level 1.
Previously, on the afternoon of May 14, a thunderstorm caused damage in Lanh Ngoc commune, Da Nang city. Mr. Tran Van Hung's house in hamlet 16 had its roof blown off, many items were heavily damaged, with damage of about 40 million VND. The thunderstorm also knocked down many areas of areca, agarwood and acacia hybrid of local people.
Immediately after the natural disaster, the police, military and militia forces of the commune supported people to clean up, move property, and overcome the consequences.
Not only in Da Nang, extreme weather also causes serious consequences in Quang Ngai. In the afternoon of May 14, 2 consecutive lightning strikes occurred, killing 2 people while working in the fields and exploiting acacia in mountainous areas.
Functional sectors recommend that people limit going out when there are thunderstorms, do not shelter from rain under large trees, vacant areas or near power poles; proactively reinforce houses, closely monitor weather forecasts to prevent damage.
