According to information from the Northern Hydrometeorological Station, at around 8:00 a.m. on October 14, Hanoi had moderate rain, some places had heavy rain. It is forecasted that in the next 36 hours, Hanoi and neighboring areas will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, with total accumulated rainfall generally 2040mm, some places higher.
Heavy rain can cause flooding on some streets of Hanoi, with the largest flooding depth commonly from 0.10.3m; flooding time is about 2030 minutes, some places are flooded longer. Notably, some streets are likely to be deeply flooded with a depth of 0.20.4m.

A representative of Hanoi Drainage Company Limited said that this morning (October 14), there was widespread rain in the city. At 7:00 a.m., rainfall measured in common areas was from 1050mm; locally at some locations such as My Duc and Xuan Mai, it exceeded 60mm.
According to Hanoi Drainage Company, there are currently no deep flooding points in the city, however, the unit has arranged forces to be on duty at key points to promptly handle flooding.
In addition, the company is operating wholesale pumping stations on the system such as: Yen So pumping station (operating 4/20 pumps), Cau Buu pumping station, Dong Bong 1, Dong Bong 2, Co Nhue, Da Sy... to lower the water level on the drainage system.
At the same time, the excavation gates are operated according to the correct procedures, ensuring traffic safety in low-lying areas.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that from early this morning until the end of October 15, the Northern Delta and the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will have moderate rain, with common rainfall of 3070mm, locally over 130mm.
The midland and mountainous areas of the Northeast will have showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 2040mm, locally over 80mm.
In Hanoi, it is forecasted that from early this morning until the end of October 15, there will be rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 3060mm, locally over 90mm.
