More than 7,000 tons of waste accumulated
The landfill in Bao Lam 4 commune (Lam Dong) is a place to receive domestic waste from 5 communes including: Bao Lam 1, Bao Lam 2, Bao Lam 3, Bao Lam 4 and Bao Lam 5.

Currently, this landfill is managed and operated by the Bao Lam Area Project Management Board, receiving about 45 - 50 tons of domestic waste every day.
Mr. Tran Thanh Phong - Director of the Bao Lam Area Project Management Board - said that according to regulations, waste after being collected and transported to the landfill will be put into pits for burial and treatment to ensure environmental sanitation.
However, in reality, for many months, the amount of garbage brought to the landfill has not been buried in time but dumped rampant outside the prescribed area.

This situation is prolonged, causing the road to the landfill to be filled with garbage, emitting a foul odor, seriously affecting the lives of dozens of households living nearby.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (Bao Lam 4 commune) reflected: "For many months now, garbage has been dumped openly, not treated, so it smells very bad. Flies are developing, seriously affecting people's lives.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tam - Chairman of Bao Lam 4 Commune People's Committee, the locality continuously receives feedback from people about the pollution situation at the landfill.
Through actual inspection, the government recorded many internal roads in the garbage dump area surrounded by overflowing garbage stretching hundreds of meters, with a residual volume of about 7,000 tons.
Stagnant leachate water that has not been treated for a long time spreads a widespread odor, seriously affecting the living environment of people in the surrounding area," Mr. Tam said.
Currently, the Bao Lam Area Project Management Board is mobilizing manpower and vehicles to handle and landfill the accumulated waste.
