According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 a.m. on December 8, the center of the tropical depression was at about 11.7 degrees north latitude; 120.5 degrees east longitude, in the coastal area east of Palawan Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6 (39 - 49km/h), gusting to level 8. The tropical depression is moving westward at a speed of 15 - 20km/h.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move west-southwest, at a speed of 15 - 20km/h and weaken into a low pressure area. At 7:00 a.m. on December 9, the center of the tropical depression was at about 11.2 degrees north latitude; 116.9 degrees east longitude, in the southeastern sea area of the central East Sea, with an intensity below level 6.
The dangerous area in the next 24 hours is determined to be at about 10 to 12.5 degrees north latitude, east of 117 degrees east longitude. The natural disaster risk level is level 3 for the southeastern sea area of the central East Sea, including the northeastern sea area of Truong Sa.
At sea, the sea area southeast of the central East Sea, including the sea area northeast of Truong Sa province, will have winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 8; waves 2 - 4m high, rough seas. Ship operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and large waves.
