The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has released a weather trend forecast for the next month (from now until December 20, 2024).
Regarding temperature trends, the average temperature across the country is generally 0.5 - 1 degree Celsius higher than the average of many years in the same period.
With such temperatures, cold air activity from now until December 20 is likely to be weaker than the average of many years.
Particularly in late November and early December 2024, cold air may be more active than the average of many years during the same period.
Previously, during the period of October 21 - November 20, there were 5 cold air waves on October 23, October 31, November 2, November 4 and November 18. In most areas of the North and North Central regions, the lowest temperature dropped below 20 degrees Celsius, some places below 13 degrees Celsius such as: Mau Son (Lang Son) 11.5 degrees Celsius; Dong Van (Ha Giang) 11.2 degrees Celsius; Sin Ho (Lai Chau) 11.8 degrees Celsius,...
Total rainfall in the Northern region is generally 10-30% lower than the average of many years. The Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions have total rainfall at approximately the same level as the average of many years in the same period; the Central Central region in particular is 5-15% higher.
The Central region is likely to experience widespread heavy rains. Rain will mainly be concentrated from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa. The Central Highlands and the South will also experience showers and thunderstorms, concentrated in late November, with some days having moderate to heavy rain.
Heavy rain, strong thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can greatly affect production and people's activities, especially in the Central Central region to the south.
Regarding dangerous weather phenomena at sea, the meteorological agency forecasts that from now until December 20, 2024, storms/tropical depressions in the East Sea and affecting Vietnam's mainland are likely to be at a level approximately equal to the average of many years in the same period.
According to the average data of many years in the above period, the East Sea region has about 1.2 storms/tropical depressions; about 0.6 storms make landfall in Vietnam.
Previously, from October 21 to November 20, 2024, there were 4 storms in the East Sea.
The meteorological agency also warned that in the final stages of the year, dangerous weather phenomena such as storms/tropical depressions, cold air, thunderstorms, and tornadoes at sea are likely to cause strong winds and large waves affecting activities in the East Sea area.
