Southern region forecast to continue having thunderstorms, some places over 50mm

The Meteorological Agency forecasts that this afternoon and tonight, September 27, the South is likely to continue to have localized heavy rain.

According to data from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning (September 27), the South Central, Southern and Lam Dong regions had scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain.

Rainfall from 7pm on September 26 to 3am on September 27 was locally over 50mm in some places such as: Da Teh (Lam Dong) 61.2mm, Chau Phu (An Giang) 54mm...

In the South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions, on the day and night of September 27, there is forecast to be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain. Rainfall is from 10 - 30mm, some places have over 50mm. Rain will be concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

The Meteorological Agency warns that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes.

Regarding the hydrological situation, the water level on the Dong Nai River at Ta Lai fluctuates. The water level at 7:00 a.m. on September 27 at Ta Lai was 112.15m, 0.15m above alert level 1.

The meteorological agency warned that in the next 24 hours, the water level on the Dong Nai River at Ta Lai will fluctuate. It is necessary to be on guard against the possibility of heavy rain combined with floods causing inundation, landslides on river banks, streams, and low-lying areas in Tan Phu and Dinh Quan districts of Dong Nai province and neighboring areas.
