serious landslides in the resettlement area
Actual records on October 15 showed that serious landslides are at risk of affecting people and property of households in the old settlement area.
Currently, landslides from the hill above the residential area are still complicated. Behind the landslide area, there are currently more than 30 households living.

The landslide here is no longer the problem of only a few households because most of the houses are built on high-lying land, without a proper drainage system.
When it rains heavily, rainwater from the roof flows onto the foot of the slope, causing the soil to quickly beat and drop.

Ms. Lieng Krang K'Hoa, in the resettlement area, said: "For the past two years, the area behind the houses of our households has continuously had cracks, the soil has gradually decreased. Every time it rains heavily, we are all anxiously and fearfully. We just hope the State will soon have a solution to support the reinforcement of the rear area."
As for Mr. Ko Dong Ha Bal, who experienced a landslide in Lan Tranh village 5 years ago, he also always lives in fear and insecurity.
At the time the government mobilized him to relocate, his family was supported by the State with 50 million VND to build a house in the resettlement area. However, the place called the safe zone is showing signs of serious landslides.

"For the past two years, the hill behind my house has been continuously collapsing. Currently, the soil has overflowed to the kitchen. Every time I heard the sound of showers outside, I was worried and wondered how long the roof could last. Throughout this year's rainy season, I've been worried and unable to sleep every rainy night," Mr. Ha Bal worried.
Need to find solutions soon
According to the Lac Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board, after the storm No. 3 (in 2025), the embankment roof behind the residential area has been seriously eroded.

According to statistics, preliminarily since July, the authorities have counted 5 households directly affected, many auxiliary works such as kitchens, toilets, and warehouses were swept away. The landslide length is about 80m, the volume of landslides is nearly 200m3.
Mr. Tran Xuan Cuong, Deputy Director of the Lac Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that the Dung K'no 5 residential area project is being implemented on an area of 15 hectares, with a total investment of 38 billion VND.
The project aims to relocate people in high-risk areas to safe places and stabilize their livelihoods.

In phase 1 (20182020), the unit has completed the construction of items and handed over residential land to 73 households.
Phase 2, the project was approved by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee in Decision 1061/QD-UBND dated May 30, 2023, with a total investment of VND 23.88 billion, and is being implemented with items such as leveling, transportation, drainage, electricity supply, water and lighting.

Mr. Cuong said that the landslide area is within the scope of phase 1 of the Project to stabilize residents in the particularly difficult area of Dung K'No 5 village, Dung K'No commune (old), now Dam Rong 4 commune.
"Currently, the unit is coordinating with the locality to review and propose to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to soon have a handling plan to ensure the safety of people's lives and property" - Mr. Cuong added.

According to the assessment, the residential area is located on steep terrain, the land is mainly fill soil. When heavy rain continues, the soil absorbs water, weakens and is prone to slip.
Currently, the unit has worked with local authorities to organize inspections, isolate dangerous areas, put up warning signs and mobilize people to temporarily evacuate to a safe place.
Although the authorities and related units have issued necessary warnings, according to our records, due to no other place to live, some households are still staying in their houses.
This area is at high risk of landslides, threatening life and property as the 2025 rainy season still has about a month left to end.

Proposal to request funding of 5 billion VND to repair landslides
To stabilize long-term life and ensure the safety of life and property for people in Dung K'No 5 residential area, the People's Committee of Dam Rong 4 commune has sent a petition to the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial People's Committee.
Accordingly, the commune proposed to support 5 billion VND from flood and storm prevention capital or other sources to build stone crab embankments, drainage ditches and embankment in landslide areas, to ensure safety for people.
