Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. K'Nam, a local resident, said that many years ago, the authorities organized excavation of soil and rock in the hillside area to carry out the road project through the area. The large amount of moving of soil and rocks has turned the foot of the hill into a positive slope tens of meters high and hundreds of meters long.
"After heavy rains, rocks and soil from above slid down, which is very dangerous. The landslide area is hundreds of meters away from the residential area of Pang Tieng village, we are very scared, said Mr. K'Nam.
Recorded at the scene, the landslide area was about 50m long, located at an altitude of dozens of meters from the road surface. Hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil from the top of the hill slid down, causing many pine trees to fall. Many locations on the positive slope were eroded by water, forming ditches deep into the ground.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, a resident of Langbiang - Da Lat ward, reported that he often drives a car on Provincial Road 721 and runs through a landslide hill. Mr. Hung said: "On a rainy day, driving through this area is scary at that time".

The leader of Langbiang - Da Lat ward, Lam Dong, said that the slope area in the pine hill in Pang Tieng village showed signs of landslides from last year and the authorities have surveyed and assessed the current status.
"We have considered the option of building a slope with reinforced concrete, but the authorities have surveyed and assessed that it is not necessary and have not implemented it.
For locations at risk of landslides in the area, we have grasped and when it rains heavily, we request the authorities to consider and handle them to ensure safety," said the leader of Langbiang - Da Lat ward.
