On September 21, Mr. Tran Quang Trung - Chairman of Cat Tien 3 Commune People's Committee - said that due to the impact of heavy rain on the night of September 20 and morning of September 21, water from upstream poured in quickly, causing the water level at Da Bo and Da Si streams to rise, causing flash floods and localized flooding in some areas.
According to initial records, about 25 houses and some auxiliary works were flooded. Some areas of crops, fish ponds and people's property were also affected.
Faced with the above situation, Cat Tien 3 commune mobilized the Civil Defense Command, Military Command, Commune Police, disaster prevention and control shock forces in villages, along with officials and civil servants to the affected areas to inspect and grasp the situation.
In areas at risk of deep flooding and strong currents, functional forces propagate and mobilize people to move to safe places.
Affected households are supported to relocate people, move assets and essential items out of flooded areas.
The commune also reviews areas along streams, low-lying areas and places at risk of flash floods and landslides; proactively plans to evacuate people if heavy rain continues to last and water levels rise.
As of the time of reporting, Cat Tien 3 commune has not recorded any casualties. Forces continue to maintain duty, monitor the diễn biến of rain and floods, especially the situation of water from upstream pouring in to promptly handle arising situations.
Right on the morning of September 21, after the water receded, local authorities mobilized the Police, the Military Command of the commune, union members, youth and mass organizations to focus on environmental sanitation, supporting people to clean up and return home.
Local authorities recommend that people not be subjective to the developments of rain and floods, limit travel in areas with high water levels, near streams and places at risk of flash floods and landslides.
People need to comply with the relocation when requested by functional forces to ensure safety.
