According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, convective clouds are currently developing and causing rain in the areas of Ba Vi, Thach That, Dan Phuong, Soc Son and My Duc. Clouds from Hoa Binh are gradually moving towards Hanoi.
Thunderstorms will continue to occur in the above areas and may spread to many other districts in Hanoi. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
The meteorological agency recommends that people should monitor information updates continuously and ensure safety during thunderstorms and lightning.
People are advised to limit going out during thunderstorms and proactively prevent dangerous weather phenomena, especially in areas with many trees or advertising signs.
In the evening and night of June 7, the mountainous and midland areas of the North will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 15 - 30mm, locally over 70mm.
In the South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions in the late afternoon and evening of June 7, it is forecasted to have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 10 - 30mm, locally over 70mm.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
