On the morning of June 23, the Department of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Unilever Vietnam launched the "Resolutions for Plastic Circular Innovation 2026" contest within the framework of strategic cooperation 2026 - 2030.
The event marks an expansion of public-private partnership to promote the plastic circular economy in Vietnam, continuing the cooperation platform from 2020.

In the past 5 years, this model has contributed to collecting and recycling more than 60,000 tons of plastic waste into packaging and useful items; and promoting initiatives on classification, recycling and supporting the implementation of extended producer responsibility (EPR).
The "Resolutions for Plastic Circular Innovation 2026" competition will focus on deployment capabilities. Potential solutions will have the opportunity to access a network of experts, management agencies, businesses, development support organizations and investors to gradually improve models, conduct practical tests and expand scale when conditions are met.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tang The Cuong - Director of the Department of Environment (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that environmental protection, efficient use of resources and circular economic development are becoming an inevitable trend of many countries. For Vietnam, this is also a major policy of the Party and State aimed at a green growth model and improving resource efficiency.
The Director of the Department of Environment believes that the "Resolutions for Plastic Circular Innovation 2026" Contest will continue to discover many valuable initiatives, contributing to promoting the circular economy, reducing plastic pollution and strongly spreading the spirit of innovation for a green and sustainable Vietnam.
Sharing agreed views, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van - Country Director General of Unilever Vietnam emphasized that the country's green transformation journey begins with recognizing plastic not as waste but as a resource. This is the key argument of the plastic transformation journey so that they circulate back to serve life.

With this year's Contest, Unilever Vietnam wishes to work with the Department of Environment and partners to promote an effective public-private partnership mechanism, so that potential initiatives are connected to practical needs, tested in the value chain and gradually replicated, contributing to the green-digital double transformation and sustainable growth of Vietnam and reaching out to the global market," Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van said.
At the launching ceremony, representatives of leaders of coordinating units jointly performed the launching ceremony of the "Resolutions to Innovate Plastic Circulation 2026" Contest.

Also at the launching ceremony, delegates and guests listened to enterprises winning awards in 2024 share about innovative solutions in the plastic circular economy, from packaging design, alternative materials, recycling technology, collection - sorting models, circular business to initiatives to reduce plastic waste and promote consumption.
