Regarding damage
According to reports from the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Dien Bien provinces, rain accompanied by thunderstorms on March 21-22 caused many damages.
In Lao Cai, 2 people were injured. Regarding housing, 1 house collapsed and 824 houses had their roofs blown off and damaged (including 783 houses in Lao Cai, 29 houses in Lai Chau, and 12 houses in Dien Bien).
In the agricultural sector, 173.7 hectares of crops and fruit trees were affected, mainly in Lao Cai (173.2 hectares) and Lai Chau (0.5 hectares).
In addition, thunderstorms also broke and collapsed 1 power pole, blew off the roofs of 1 school, 1 cultural house and some other auxiliary works in Lao Cai.
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities mobilized forces to support people to overcome the consequences and soon stabilize their lives.
About the rain situation
According to statistics from 7 pm on March 21 - 7 pm on March 22, the Northern mountainous area has rain, moderate to heavy rain, common rainfall from 20-40mm, some stations have higher rainfall such as: Ha Giang (Tuyen Quang) 77mm; Tan Nam 2 (Tuyen Quang) 75mm; Bac Ha (Lao Cai) 61mm; Ban Lau (Lao Cai) 56mm; Nam Giang (Lai Chau) 45mm; Thach Lam (Cao Bang) 45mm.
From 7 pm on March 22 - 7 am on March 23: The Northern mountainous area has rain, moderate rain, common rainfall from 10-30mm, some stations have higher rainfall such as: Bac Ha (Lao Cai) 45mm; Dong Ha 2 (Tuyen Quang) 62mm; Coc Pang (Cao Bang) 34mm.
In 3 days, from 7 pm on March 19 - 7 am on March 23: The Northern mountainous area has rain, the total rainfall is commonly from 30-60mm; some stations have higher total rainfall such as: Bac Ha (Lao Cai) 86mm; Song Bac (Tuyen Quang) 85mm; Tan Trinh (Tuyen Quang) 78mm; Coc Pang (Cao Bang) 60mm.
