Functional agencies warn of the risk of flash floods and landslides in hilly and mountainous areas, along rivers and streams; flooding due to rising water and big waves in river mouths and coastal areas and urban flooding due to heavy rain.
Faced with complicated weather developments, the Hue City Civil Defense Command requests departments, agencies, branches, and localities to closely monitor the developments of tropical depressions, heavy rain, floods, inundation, flash floods, landslides and dangerous weather phenomena; proactively deploy disaster prevention and control plans according to the "four on-site" motto.
Communes and wards are required to review and be ready to organize the relocation and evacuation of people in coastal areas, riverside areas, low-lying areas, where there is a risk of flooding, high waves, deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides to safe places.
At the same time, functional forces must organize traffic control and guidance at bridges across sea gates when there is strong wind; underground tunnels, spillways, deeply flooded roads, fast-flowing water or areas at risk of landslides, resolutely not allowing people and vehicles to pass when unsafe.
As a coastal locality of Hue City, Thuan An ward is frequently heavily affected by natural disasters. To ensure safety for people and infrastructure projects, local authorities have had early response plans.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Dinh Phong - Chairman of Thuan An Ward People's Committee said that the locality has assigned working groups to mobilize people to proactively prevent and control storms, develop response plans and prepare evacuation plans when necessary. "Fishermen's boats have been notified to ensure safety," Mr. Phong informed.
According to the Hue City Civil Defense Command, the sea area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8, waves 2-4m high, rough seas; ships operating in dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds and large waves.
Coastal and lagoon areas are required to coordinate with functional forces to closely monitor weather developments, guide vehicle owners and fishermen to anchor ships and boats safely, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.
