On the morning of April 2nd, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc - Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Vien ward - Da Lat (Lam Dong) said that after the press reflected on the fact that many camphor trees on Phu Dong Thien Vuong street were dead and dry, the locality urgently inspected to determine the cause.

Through inspection, the entire Phu Dong Thien Vuong street has nearly 300 camphor trees planted as urban green trees, creating landscape and shade. These trees are about 25-30 years old and are all numbered for management.
Initial statistics recorded that 15 camphor trees died, of which 10 trees at the scene had died and were no longer able to recover; the rest had been cut down, leaving only stumps.

Real-world records show that dead trees have the phenomenon of mass leaf fall in a short time, tree trunks show signs of cracked bark, and quickly wither.
According to initial assessments, the cause of tree deaths stems from many factors, such as prolonged hot weather causing trees to lack water. In particular, the soil foundation on the route is compacted due to the impact of the upgrading construction process in 2025," Mr. Phuc said.

According to Mr. Phuc, the locality is assigning functional units to handle and collect dead trees to ensure safety; and at the same time pruning, caring for, and reinforcing weak trees at risk of falling and replanting to ensure urban landscape.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reflected, for many days, people in Lam Vien ward - Da Lat could not help but regret when a series of long-standing camphor trees on Phu Dong Thien Vuong street suddenly died.
This road is planted with hundreds of trees, creating shade and a characteristic landscape. This situation is said to have appeared after the road was upgraded and traffic infrastructure was renovated.
