On June 18, Bac Ruong Commune Police, Lam Dong province said that they had received a golden mountain turtle individual voluntarily handed over by Mr. Nguyen Van Rin (born 1984, residing in Bac Ruong commune).
Previously, while weeding in his garden, Mr. Rin discovered a strange turtle individual. Through propaganda campaigns by functional forces on wildlife protection, he realized that this could be a rare animal, so he proactively brought it to Bac Ruong Commune Police to hand it over.

After receiving it, Bac Ruong Commune Police coordinated with functional agencies to verify and determined that this was a golden mountain turtle individual, scientific name Indotestudo elongata.
This is a dangerous, precious, and rare forest animal belonging to Group IIB according to the provisions of law, and is also named in the Vietnam Red Book and on the list of endangered species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Functional forces have checked the health status of the turtle individual and released it back into the natural environment. Releasing is carried out in accordance with regulations, ensuring safety for wild animals and contributing to the conservation of the natural ecosystem.

According to Bac Ruong Commune Police, Mr. Nguyen Van Rin's act of voluntarily handing over wild animals is a meaningful action, showing the awareness and responsibility of the people in wildlife protection work.
At the same time, this is also a positive result from propaganda and mobilization activities to raise people's awareness of complying with the law on protecting endangered, precious and rare animal species in the area.
