On the evening of December 31, 2025, a music program and fireworks display to welcome the New Year took place in the Hoan Kiem Lake area, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate.
However, after the events ended, many streets around Hoan Kiem Lake were flooded with garbage, creating great pressure for environmental sanitation workers on New Year's Eve.

According to reporters' records, garbage appeared densely in many areas around Hoan Kiem Lake and neighboring streets. Under the road, sidewalks and tree beds, domestic waste such as cans, plastic bottles, plastic cups, styrofoam boxes for food, and nylon bags were thrown scattered, making the space after the festival become messy.

An environmental sanitation worker working in this area said that on normal days the amount of garbage and the workload are not as much. However, during major holidays such as New Year's Eve, when the number of people flocking is too large, the amount of garbage increases dramatically. Many people are aware that after using food and drinking water, they have proactively carried bottles and boxes and put them in trash cans. However, there are still many cases of littering on the spot, causing environmental unsanitary conditions and affecting urban aesthetics.
On the streets, sanitation workers must continuously collect garbage at night to ensure smooth traffic and restore a clean appearance to the central area of the Capital on the morning of the 1st day of the New Year.
In order to reduce the pressure on environmental sanitation workers on New Year's Eve, the office block and youth union of Urenco 2 (Hoan Kiem branch) organized a support campaign from about 10 pm on December 31, 2025. With a force of about 30 people, it is expected that the collection and cleaning work will last until about 3 am on January 1, 2026.

According to Mr. Pham Nhat Duy, Planning Department of Urenco 2, Hoan Kiem branch, if personnel is not increased, the work pressure on environmental sanitation workers on New Year's Eve will be very high.
Most holidays, the unit has to add more personnel to support. Normally, there are only about 5-10 workers working overtime in this area, if personnel are not increased, the amount of garbage left behind may last until the next morning," Mr. Duy shared.

Mobilizing more support forces on New Year's Eve not only helps ensure the progress of garbage collection, but also contributes to maintaining the civilized and beautiful image of Hoan Kiem Lake area - considered the "heart" of Hanoi Capital.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
