On the morning of December 21, Bao Lam 5 Commune Police (Lam Dong Province) said that the unit had just coordinated with the local Forest Protection Department to receive a long-tailed monkey weighing more than 4kg voluntarily handed over by the people.
According to the police, the monkey was raised by Mr. Do Tan Manh (Village 1 Loc Bac, Bao Lam Commune 5) since childhood.
After being informed and disseminated legal regulations on the protection of endangered, precious and rare wild animals, Mr. Manh voluntarily handed over the monkey to the authorities.

After receiving the monkey, Bao Lam 5 Commune Police coordinated with the local Forest Protection Department to conduct an initial health check, complete the necessary procedures and release the monkey back into the natural forest environment.
Long-tailed monkey (scientific name Macaca fascicularis) is a truong species of Group IIB, included in the list of endangered, precious, and rare forest animals that the State prioritizes protection.
All acts of illegal captivity, transportation, and trading of this species will be handled according to the provisions of law.

A representative of Bao Lam 5 Commune Police said that in recent times, the unit has coordinated with the Forest Protection force to step up propaganda work, mobilizing people to strictly comply with regulations on wildlife conservation.
The voluntary handover of monkeys by people is considered a positive action, contributing to protecting biodiversity and preventing illegal captivity and trade of wild animals in the area.
