Climate change can be considered the biggest global challenge, directly affecting human life, economic development and social security. Due to the impact of climate change, hot weather is becoming increasingly severe, heavy rains and droughts are also occurring more frequently.
At the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), Vietnam made a commitment to strive for net zero emissions by 2050.
In particular, the roadmap to 2050, the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions is set as follows:
- Strive to achieve the goal of net zero emissions by 2050, actively and responsibly contribute with the international community to protect the earth's climate system; improve growth quality and economic competitiveness.
- By 2030, ensure that total national greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 43.5% compared to the business-as-usual (BAU) scenario.
Currently, Vietnam has been taking many measures to reduce emissions. However, there are still many businesses and factories that emit emissions into the environment, increasing the greenhouse effect.
In this spirit, on August 26, Lao Dong Newspaper will host the seminar “Net-zero - Reducing greenhouse gas emissions to respond to climate change” with the hope of receiving many constructive opinions and views from experts and audiences on the issue of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and responding to climate change. At the same time, it will propose plans and solutions to effectively implement the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.
Attending the program with Lao Dong Newspaper were Mr. Luong Quang Huy, Head of the Department of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and Ozone Layer Protection (Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment); Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thi An - Director of the Institute of Natural Resources, Environment and Community Development, Former Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment.
The discussion is scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. on August 26, 2024 at the Lao Dong Newspaper studio - No. 6 Pham Van Bach, Yen Hoa, Cau Giay, Hanoi.
We respectfully invite you to follow.
