On January 20, the Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong province said that it had issued a document requesting Di Linh Energy Joint Stock Company to inspect cracks and assess the safety of Dong Nai 1 hydropower reservoir dam in Thong Nhat village, Tan Ha commune, Lam Ha.

On the same day, Mr. Nguyen Tai Phuong, Chairman of Tan Ha Commune People's Committee Lam Ha said that the locality has issued a document requesting Di Linh Energy Joint Stock Company to urgently inspect and assess the safety level of Dong Nai 1 hydropower dam.
At the same time, businesses need to have handling plans to ensure the safety of works, property and people's lives.

From the proposal of the local government, the Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong province assessed that in 2025, the flood situation on the Dong Nai River basin will be unusual, with water flow higher than the average for many years.
In particular, from November 16 to 21, 2025, a widespread and prolonged heavy rain occurred in Lam Dong province.
The amount of water flowing into hydropower reservoirs in the Dong Nai river basin recorded historical flood levels and flood discharge flow, causing flooding, riverbed erosion and damaging some works.
According to the Chairman of Tan Ha Commune People's Committee Lam Ha, through actual inspection, cracks appeared at the broken location at the foot of Dong Nai 1 hydropower dam.

The water flowing through this crack has a fairly large flow, posing a potential risk of dam unsafety and threatening the lives of people in the downstream area.
A irrigation expert believes that the large flow through the dam's foot is a sign of submerged erosion or forced infiltration.
If not handled promptly, the crack can expand quickly, leading to the risk of landslides at the dam base, causing overall instability of the project.
To handle it promptly, the Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong province requested Di Linh Energy Joint Stock Company to coordinate with the People's Committee of Tan Ha Commune, Lam Ha to inspect and assess the overall safety of the project.
If necessary, businesses must conduct inspections and assess the safety level of reservoir dams, in order to ensure the safety of works during the 2026 rainy and flood season and the following years.
