On the afternoon of May 17, Mr. Tran Thanh Phong - Director of the Bao Lam Area Project Management Board said that the unit is focusing on treating and burying the accumulated waste to minimize the impact on the environment and people's lives.

According to Mr. Phong, the unit has mobilized 4 excavators, 4 dump trucks and many workers working day and night to treat the amount of garbage accumulated at the landfill.
All waste will be put into pre-built burial pits, and treated with lime powder and deodorizing solution to ensure environmental hygiene according to regulations.

Although the unit has not been allocated funds to treat about 7,000 tons of accumulated waste, due to urgent requirements, we have proactively advanced contingency funds to deploy treatment. It is expected that by May 20, the landfilling and treatment of the accumulated waste will be basically completed," Mr. Phong said.
Also according to Mr. Phong, during the time of treating accumulated waste, the landfill still receives domestic waste from localities transported back.
The Project Management Board has arranged forces to guide garbage trucks to dump in the correct designated locations to limit pollution generation.

In the coming time, the unit will continue to work with localities to agree on a plan to receive and handle the amount of waste generated daily, minimizing the situation of prolonged waste accumulation as in the past.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reflected the situation of overloaded centralized landfills in Bao Lam 4 commune, for many consecutive months garbage was not buried in time but dumped indiscriminately outside the prescribed area.
This situation causes the road to the landfill to be filled with garbage, emitting a foul odor, seriously affecting the lives of dozens of households living around.
In addition, waste is still accumulated in many localities of Bao Lam district (old), especially in Bao Lam 1 commune, causing environmental pollution and unsightliness.
Regarding the incident, the police agency is coordinating with relevant units to cordon off the scene, statistically count the amount of accumulated garbage, and collect dossiers and documents to serve the investigation and verification work.
Functional agencies also assess the extent of the impact of accumulated waste on the environment and clarify the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals if violations are detected.
