New tropical depression appears with gusts of level 8, forecast for the next 24 hours

    Currently, a tropical depression is operating in the northern sea of the East Sea, causing bad weather in this area.

    Updated from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 AM on August 18, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 19.8 degrees North latitude - 117.6 degrees East longitude, over the sea east of the Northern East Sea area. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting at level 8. The tropical depression is moving slowly in a westerly direction at a speed of about 5 km/h.

    Forecast for the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in a westerly direction, at a speed of about 10 km/h.

    By 7:00 AM on August 19, the center of the tropical depression will be located at about 19.9 degrees North latitude - 115.3 degrees East longitude; over the sea area east of the Northern East Sea area. Wind intensity is strong at level 6, gusting at level 8.

    The dangerous area is located between 19 and 21 degrees North latitude; from the 114.5 to 118.5 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the sea area east of the Northern East Sea area.

    Forecast for the next 48 hours, the tropical depression will move in a West-Northwest direction, at a speed of about 10 km/h.

    By 7:00 AM on August 20, the center of the tropical depression will be located at about 20.1 degrees North latitude - 113.2 degrees East longitude; about 740km east-northeast of Hainan Island (China). Wind intensity is strong at level 6, gusting at level 8.

    The dangerous area is in the range from 19 to 21.5 degrees North latitude; from the 112.5 to 116.5 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the Northern East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa special zone).

    From the next 48 to 72 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move in a West-Northwest direction, traveling about 5-10km per hour.

    Regarding the impact of the tropical depression, the sea area east of the Northern East Sea area has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8; sea waves are 2-3.5m high, rough seas.

    Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.
