On May 12, Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh - Head of Vinh Thai Commune Police (Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province) said that Vinh Thai Commune Police had just posted a story about a man returning a 500,000 VND bill that was accidentally rotten when buying watermelon on social media, receiving many positive comments, spreading trust in honesty and affection in real life.
Previously, on the morning of May 10, at Cho Ho Xa sky Market (Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province), Mr. Vo Van Tiep (born in 1974, residing in Thu Luat Village, Vinh Thai Commune, Vinh Linh District) stopped by to buy a watermelon from Ms. Duong Thi Linh (born in 1960, residing in Tu Chinh Village, Vinh Tu Commune, Vinh Linh District).

Mr. Tiep gave 50,000 VND to buy a melon for 10,000 VND, but Ms. Linh quickly sold out a 20,000 VND and a 500,000 VND bill.
Mr. Tiep thought that Ms. Linh had lost 2 20,000 VND bills, so he put them in his wallet and took the melon home. As for Ms. Linh, she did not know that she had just lost a large sum of money.
It was not until the next day, when checking the money in the wallet, that Mr. Tiep discovered the mistake. And without hesitation, he proactively reported to Vinh Thai Commune Police, asking for help in finding the melon seller to return it.
On the morning of May 12, Captain Tong Van Tam - Vinh Thai Commune Police officer supported Mr. Tiep to the market. As a supermarket, there are no stable stalls, sellers are sitting at different locations every day, luckily the number of sellers is not large, so Vinh Thai Commune Police and Mr. Tiep found Ms. Linh.
Mrs. Linh's stall at the market is very modest, with only a small tarpaulin spread in the concrete floor, on which a batch of watermelon is placed. Seeing the police and the man coming to look for her, Mrs. Linh was surprised, but when she heard the story, she smiled and choked up.
Receiving the 500,000 VND bill from Mr. Tiep, Mrs. Linh was moved and gave the kind man a melon.
Mr. Tiep shared that no one would know that Ms. Linh had lost money by mistake if he hadn't told her, but her conscience did not allow her to do so.
500,000 VND may not be big for this person, but it is tearful sweat for another person. Thinking about having to sell a few dozen watermelons to make a profit of 500,000 VND, I immediately reported to Vinh Thai Commune Police to be able to find the exact person selling the melons to return them" - Mr. Tiep shared.
Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh said that, seeing Mr. Tiep's actions as a moral lesson, Vinh Thai Commune Police took the story to social media, and received many positive shares.
