Stop accepting donations, the amount continues to increase
Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh - Chief of Vinh Thai Commune Police (Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province) - said that on February 4, his personal account continued to "jump numbers", as many people continued to be interested in the story of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (55 years old, residing in Vinh Thai Commune) who lost 1.5 million VND in Tet shopping money.
Captain Minh said that since the 29th of Tet (January 28), he has announced that he will stop accepting donations for Ms. Hoa's family, but since then, many people have continued to transfer money with wishes and encouragement to Ms. Hoa's family.
To clarify the amount of money received through his personal account, on February 3 - the first working day of the new year, Captain Minh went to the bank to print a statement of the amount received. Then, on the evening of February 3, 32 pages of the statement were publicly posted on the social media account of Vinh Thai Commune Police.
On 32 pages of statements, there are nearly 569 donors who have transferred money with a total amount of more than 160 million VND, in one case, 5 million VND was transferred to support Ms. Hoa. There is a case of donating money with wishes to Vinh Thai Commune Police and Ms. Le Thanh Thuy (42 years old, residing in Vinh Thai Commune) who found the amount of 1.5 million VND and brought it to the commune police to return to the owner, Ms. Hoa.
"The community's concern, sharing, and transferring donations to my personal account to send to Ms. Hoa is beyond the imagination of the Vinh Thai Commune Police and Ms. Hoa," said Captain Minh.
Use community donations wisely
On January 28, after receiving donations from benefactors for Ms. Hoa's case, Vinh Thai Commune Police and the Fatherland Front agency, the local government gave 6 million VND in cash to Ms. Hoa's family.
The remaining amount of more than 150 million VND, Vinh Thai Commune Police will closely coordinate with the family and the Front, and the superior Police to use it appropriately and reasonably. Because Ms. Hoa's house is degraded, without a kitchen or toilet, the units will come up with a plan to repair and complete the works. In addition, a portion of the money will be used to create a livelihood for the family, support the education of Ms. Hoa's grandchildren and make a gift to encourage Ms. Thuy.
Ms. Hoa said that Vinh Thai Commune Police is the bridge, bringing benefactors to the family, so they will seek the opinion of Vinh Thai Commune Police in using the donated money. And she hopes that the money will be used appropriately and reasonably so as not to disappoint the community's heart for her family.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, Ms. Hoa dropped 1.5 million VND on the afternoon of the 28th of Tet. This amount of money was saved for 2 months, to buy Tet market for the whole family. Ms. Thuy picked up the money wrapped inside a piece of paper torn from a student's notebook with scribbled words and without hesitation brought it to Vinh Thai Commune Police.
That same evening, Vinh Thai Commune Police found Ms. Hoa’s house to return the money. The story of Ms. Hoa, who was in difficult circumstances, receiving 1.5 million VND thanks to Ms. Thuy’s kindness and the dedication of Vinh Thai Commune Police touched many people. Therefore, the community shared the story, and from there, many people supported and encouraged Ms. Hoa through the personal account of the head of Vinh Thai Commune Police.
