At noon on April 10, on his way to Lao Bao market (Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province) to buy gold rings, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phong (22 years old, residing in Tan Thuan village, Tan Lap commune, Huong Hoa district) unfortunately dropped a leather wallet containing personal documents and 16 million VND in cash. He brought this money to pay for the pre-order at the gold counter in the market.
Discovering that his wallet was missing, Mr. Phong immediately returned to the roads he had passed on National Highway 9 to find it but to no avail.
"My wedding day is in May. That afternoon, I took my money to the market to get a wedding ring, but when I arrived, I couldn't find a wallet. Thinking that I was lost, I could only post it on social networks to ask everyone to share information, hopefully someone would pick it up" - Phong recounted.
That seemingly fragile hope suddenly became a reality. At 2:30 p.m. the same day, Mr. Phong received a call from Tan Lap Commune Police informing him that someone had picked up the wallet and handed it over to Tan Thanh Commune Police.
Here, the authorities said that the person who picked it up was Nguyen Cong Quang (17 years old, residing in Huong Hoa district). Around 12:30 on the same day, when passing through the A Boss Bridge area (Tan Thanh commune), Quang discovered the wallet on the side of the road. Shortly thereafter, I brought it to the police headquarters to hand over.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Huy Phong - Head of Tan Thanh Commune Police - confirmed that the wallet contained complete identification documents under the name Nguyen Ngoc Phong and cash of 16 million VND. After verifying the correct owner, the police proceeded to hand over all assets.
"Quang's act of picking up the wallet and finding a way to return it is very appreciated. This is a shining example of honesty and responsibility to the community - Lieutenant Colonel Tran Huy Phong shared.
In his emotions, Mr. Phong sent his thanks to Quang and the local police force for helping him find his property at the right time of his life.
