On July 8, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, Head of Steering Committee 515 of the city Nguyen Van Manh visited and encouraged the force that is taking samples of martyrs' remains for DNA testing at Binh Thanh Martyrs' Cemetery (Binh Dien commune).
This is an activity belonging to the "500 Days and Nights" Campaign and the plan of Hue City People's Committee on searching, repatriating, and identifying martyrs' remains by DNA testing method.
According to the plan, Hue City will take samples at 42 martyrs' cemeteries in 21 communes and wards, with 7,283 martyrs' graves whose information has not been identified. This is one of the large-scale DNA sampling phases to serve the work of identifying martyrs.
Hue City Military Command said that from June 29, the unit coordinated with the Binh Dien commune government to take biological samples from 854 graves of unidentified martyrs at Binh Thanh Martyrs' Cemetery. The sampling process was carried out in accordance with professional procedures, ensuring strictness, science and solemnity.
Despite the hot weather and large workload, the forces still made efforts to accelerate progress to complete the plan soon.
At the inspection, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Manh acknowledged and praised the spirit of responsibility of officers, soldiers and forces participating in task implementation.
He emphasized that taking martyrs' remains samples for DNA testing is an important step in the journey of identifying identities, contributing to returning the names to the martyrs, meeting the expectations of relatives and expressing the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude".
Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee requested the forces to continue to closely coordinate, strictly comply with technical procedures in taking samples, preserving and handing over samples for testing; and at the same time pay attention to the health and working conditions of the forces directly performing tasks to ensure progress and quality.
