On the afternoon of July 6, Major General Nguyen Thanh Trung, City Party Committee Member, Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Command and the working delegation visited Mr. Huynh Van Muoi's house, who claimed to be a relative of martyr Huynh Van Quen found at Le Thi Rieng Park to verify related information.
According to initial information, Mr. Huynh Van Muoi, the person claiming to be a relative of martyr Huynh Van Quen, contacted the local authorities after learning that the martyr's remains were found in Ho Chi Minh City. However, when comparing the documents, functional agencies recorded a significant difference: the death certificate the family received from Military Region 9 showed the martyr's name as Huynh Van Quyen (different from Huynh Van Quen's name), who sacrificed on March 2, 1968. Meanwhile, the Fatherland's Certificate of Merit has the name Huynh Van Quen.
Faced with this difference, Major General Nguyen Thanh Trung directly went to the locality to verify, support the family and coordinate with the government of Vam Co commune, Tay Ninh province to clarify the information. Mr. Dang Van Tay Lo - Chairman of the People's Committee of Vam Co commune, Tay Ninh province confirmed that on the morning of the same day, the family reported to the commune that the information of the found martyr was consistent with the relatives who were searching.
Major General Nguyen Thanh Trung said that the City Command will continue to coordinate with functional agencies to organize thorough verification, compare information and dossiers to have accurate conclusions about the martyr's identity, avoiding confusion or errors in the confirmation process. At the same time, he requested local authorities to support the family in the process of clarifying information.
